THE CONSULTING MAGIC
~ Physiology as Systems Thinking ~
I take my extensive knowledge and experience of the human body’s structure, function and physiological systems, and draw parallels to business development and consultation to create clarity and opportunities for CEOs, Founders, and Innovative companies. I use my 4-step method to help companies better understand themselves first to then achieve their desired outcome. My consultation often speaks extremely well with leaders who have an athletic background.
Ideation > Neuro-Cognitive System
Clarity, Direction, Pain Points, Barriers, Strategic Vision
Identification > Sensory System
Pattern Recognition, Signals, Inputs, Outputs, Opportunity Detection
Intervention > Digestive & Lymphatic System
Processing, Prioritization, Integration, Detoxification, Operational Flow
Implementation > Musculoskeletal System
Structure, Strength, Execution, Coordination, Capacity Building
THE RESEARCH
My methodology is supported by embodied cognition, absorptive capacity, and dynamic capabilities theory where the body provides a systems-based model for how leaders perceive information, process complexity, remove friction, and coordinate action toward stronger business outcomes:
Embodied Cognition - Decision-making, pattern recognition, and leadership behaviour are shaped through embodied, sensorimotor processes. My extensive physicality and longevity in the field of fitness, health, and wellness have given me a wealth of knowledge and experience that is rare in the industry, one that is specifically aligned to CEO’s, Founders, and Leaders who identify as athletes.
Connors, B. L., Rende, R., & Colton, T. J. (2018). Embodied decision-making style: Below and beyond cognition. Frontiers in Psychology, 9, 1123.
Absorptive capacity / Organizational learning - From my own experience as an Ultramarathon Competitor and former Ironman Athlete, leaders need the ability to quickly recognize valuable external information, assimilate it, and apply it to their gameplay. The transfer of that commercially is essentially business digestion: sensing, processing, extracting value, and eliminating noise.
Cohen, W. M., & Levinthal, D. A. (1990). Absorptive capacity: A new perspective on learning and innovation. Administrative Science Quarterly, 35(1), 128–152.
Dynamic capabilities / Strategic adaptation - Dynamic capabilities theory argues that organizations create advantage by integrating, building, and reconfiguring internal and external capabilities in response to changing environments. This speaks to a lifetime of competing in sports at a high level.
